This is a magical place, in a stunning setting. The spiritual atmosphere, clean mountain air, inspirational views, and all-round wonderful hospitality make staying here a truly memorable experience. The Kasbah also has a strong ethical heart, contributing to the life and livelihood of the local Berber community and supporting a Moroccan girls’ education charity. Combined with the opportunity to set off on some incredible treks right from the doorstep, this is an awesome location to revive and relax.

FOOD

The Kasbah’s Atlas mountain fare is delicious and hearty, home cooking using local ingredients. For this yoga retreat, the kitchen will be serving mostly vegetarian food,  as this is in harmony with  yoga practice. There will be delicious vegan fare too, for those who have requested. At supper there will also be a fish option and a meat/chicken option. Dairy will be on the menu for those who would like it.  Do bear in mind that you  are in the mountains, and traditional Moroccan food is the basis for all menus.

Alcohol

Out of respect to Muslim traditions the Kasbah does not serve alcohol. However, if you  fancy a drink on your retreat, you are quite welcome to bring your own. The Kasbah are happy with this.

ACCOMMODATION

Every room in the Kasbah is unique. Whether Standard, Superior or Deluxe, rooms within each of these categories vary slightly, and this is part of the Kasbah's character and charm. There is also variation in the outside spaces  of  those rooms which have balconies or terraces/patios. If you would like an extra heater or a hot water bottle in your bed, just ask Reception. They will be only too happy to ensure that your room is cosy and comfortable.

amenities

Laundry
The Kasbah staff will do laundry for you at a small additional charge.

WiFi
There is wifi available in some communal parts of the Kasbah.

MONEY & Tipping

Euros are accepted in both Marrakech and the Kasbah

It is discretionary but if you would like to give anything to Kasbah staff at the end of your retreat, please use the box for this purpose on the table in the dining room. This is distributed equally between all the staff and will ensure that everyone including those behind the scenes benefit from your donation.

This is in keeping with the Kasbah team spirit. The attitude of the Kasbah staff is that they are very pleased to be given gratuities, but they are paid to do their job well and it should be considered an extra for good service.

Kasbah Charity

You may like to know that the Kasbah owners founded a charity which supports girls’ education and the local community and a small percentage of the cost of your stay will go to help and support this charity. More information can be found at www.efamorocco.org/

ATTIRE FOR TREKKING

The Muslim religion has certain clothing rules. Morocco is a liberal country well used to foreign tourists but to avoid unwanted attention or giving offence it is a good idea and good manners, for women especially, to be discreet. It is recommended that you wear long trousers or a reasonably long skirt for visits to some of the more remote villages and religious towns.

WHAT TO BRING

Holdalls rather than suitcases are advised, as your luggage will be transported from Imlil village to the Kasbah by mule. You will follow the mules on foot. Do wear proper walking boots/shoes or good trainers, and pack a torch. If you are arriving after sunset, your torch will come in useful for the route up to the Kasbah. The mule drivers and guides are very helpful, you will not be alone on this short walk up.

As you will be in the Atlas Mountains, the weather can be changeable. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny in the middle part of the day, although it will be cooler at night, so do bear this in mind. It’s best to pack layers, for all eventualities. Rain is unlikely but to be on the safe side a light waterproof is advised.  Also, a warm sweater or fleece, a wrap/pashmina, socks, warm trousers (tracksuit bottoms rather than jeans). Eco friendly soap, shampoo and washing powder would be much appreciated.

Yoga Equipment

Sticky yoga mats, straps and  blankets are  provided by The Kasbah.
Please bring your own block if you use one and any other props you specifically need.

HAMMAM & MASSAGE

There is a hammam within the Kasbah. Please liaise with the lovely people on Reception to book a trained lady (or man if you're a man!) to give you a hammam. This will BE AN ADDITIONAL cost OF 200 dhirams.
You can also use the hammam yourself if you let Reception know you would like to. There is also a local massage therapist available and you can ALSO book this service through Reception. ThIS WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL cost OF 200 dhirams.
